How to tell you’re a nerd: Method 123 (or poetic conflicts and the principal’s office)

You were nearly sent to the principal’s office as a high school sophomore.  The reason: You got into a heated argument with your English teacher in front of the entire class, after she told you that your interpretation of an assigned poem was “wrong.”

  1. Reblogged this on booktopiareviews and commented:
I never did this, but I got detention bc I had already READ the entire poetry unit 3 times, so I thought _it_ by Stephen King would be good to read in class.

  2. This never happened to me for two reasons: I don’t really care for poetry and I didn’t start arguing with teachers until college.

Any teacher should be proud to have a student who put that much thought into a poem. I’d argue that there really can’t be a ‘wrong’ interpretation of a poem, and any teacher who would say so is probably not a very good one.
